30 Day Meme: Day 2 Fav Movie

Posted in 30 Day Meme, Family, Movies on July 22nd, 2010 by admin

Ugh…. I love movies so much, the idea of picking one is killing me! Maybe I’ll rant about my fav genre and something will come to mind lol.

Ever since I was a little girl I have always loved horror. It started because my dad owned a video store (yes actual videos, before dvds lol). I was so fascinated by the covers of horror movies, especially the monsters. I really don’t remember the first movie I saw…. I started watching them pretty regularly from the beginning lol. My Dad was a horrible influence hehe, introducing me to zombies and werewolves. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Hands down my favourite type of movies are zombie films (with werewolves coming in close second). On one hand they can be so hilarious, and on the other they can be absolutely terrifying. I think the scariest thing is the idea of complete isolation, completely being alone in a world that wants to eat you…. pretty creepy.

That’s actually given me some ideas of my fav zombie movies:

28 Weeks Later:

I also love Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead etc. Some of my other fav horror movies are Hostel Part2, Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows, Saw series etc. I’m not sure but I love sequels lol.

Really Cute Short Film

Posted in Check This Out, Movies on June 11th, 2010 by admin

This is a really cute video a friend shared on FaceBook. It made me smile and I just had to share it:

Partly Cloudy from Dan Graham on Vimeo.

the little short before Up

in which, a good-hearted but slightly dull-witted cloud god creates all sorts of lovely babies for his tired old stork.

I helped edit the animation. Please don’t delete this?

Movie Review: Earth Girls Are Easy

Posted in Movie Reviews, Movies on June 7th, 2010 by admin

Where to start? Well this isn’t anything Academy Award winning but this is a great fun movie. Made in 1988 I watched it as a kid. Watching it again recently was just as fun.

It’s set in the Valley. Valerie is a engaged nail technician who has a UFO land in her pool. Three aliens emerge and the fun continues from there. It’s definitely a corny romantic comedy. And very 80s hehe. But it has a really cute love story to it, plus some catchy songs.

So if you’re looking for something silly and very retro, check this one out. :)

Introducing Summer Watching

Posted in Movies, Site Updates on June 3rd, 2010 by admin

Well it’s June, which means summer is pretty much upon us. One downside to summer…. nothing on tv! So I’ve decided to start a summer watching list. You can view it here.

I’m a huge movie fan. Mostly horror and drama, but really I’ll give anything a try.  So this is going to be a list of movies I want to watch over this summer. Once I have the chance I’ll add trailers and hopefully some small reviews.

Also if anyone has any suggestions please comment! I’ll give anything a try. It could be a new movie or an old one. It could be even something I’ve seen before. So get suggesting hehe. Til later byes for now.

The Crazies

Posted in Movies on March 14th, 2010 by admin

Well Jay and I finally went to see a movie tonight. We went to see The Crazies, which turned out to be a really great movie.

Summary from TrailerAddict:
Imagine living in a small town where everything is safe and happy… until suddenly it isn’t. Imagine your friends and neighbors going quickly and horrifically insane. In a terrifying tale of the “American Dream” gone horribly wrong, four friends find themselves trapped in their hometown in The Crazies, a reinvention of the George Romero classic directed by Breck Eisner from a screenplay by Ray Wright and Scott Kosar.

The Crazies

First off I really liked the story here. There were many elements that blended together. It was a situation that is possible. (Though very unlikely) There wasn’t a huge background on the characters but really it wasn’t needed. It was nice because you didn’t get attached, so you really didn’t know who was ‘next’. It was so consistent with tension and jump scenes. And there were a lot of jump scenes, and good ones.

Now if you’re looking for a lot of gore…. you’re not going to get it. There’s blood, but the scare is in the tension. This really isn’t too different than your average horror movie. But if you’re looking for a good scare and pretty simple, then this is for you. I really enjoyed it.

Twilighters, the hysteria

Posted in Movies, Random Rants, YouTube on March 11th, 2010 by admin

Perez posted a link to this Youtube video. This girl is filming her reaction to the new Eclipse trailer. A couple things before the video:

-I’m not making fun of this girl. I’m going to be commenting on the hysteria itself. Even though there are a couple parts where she sounds possessed…..
-She gets very loud at a couple points, please turn down your volume. You’ll thank me.

My first reaction…. if she’s like this after watching the trailer….. can you imagine how it would be watching the whole movie with her? Something I’d like to avoid. And this will be how it is with many Twilight fans, or ‘Twilighters’.

Now I can’t say I never have gotten excited over a movie coming out. I actually get really excited for a lot movies. But I can honestly say I’ve never screamed or cried over one. Don’t get me wrong…. I liked the books and enjoy the movies. Do I think ‘Edward’ is the hottest thing on the planet…. no. Am I going to die if I don’t see the movie… no. But I do hope to check it out in theatres…… which I know is a risk to my ears.

I guess I just don’t get it. I don’t get how people can get sooo excited for a movie. Though I should talk….. I got pretty damn excited when Jon Davis got on stage at Family Values a couple years ago. :) Byes for now.
